The fire began approximately 2 1/2 miles North of the Osceola National Forest boundary. In two hours the fire had burned inside the Forest. Firelines were being plowed when the wind shifted, cutting off the line of retreat to road 37. Brantley Graser, Ted Lasher and Calvin Green were trapped and Mr. Green was badly burned. The fire burned over 2120 acres, with damage of 5,069,847 board feet of timber valued at $105,000. it was sold for salvage and brought in $60,000.
