Jerry Williams Carter was born August 11, 1887, near Eufaula, Alabama, and he died June 18,1971, in Tallahassee. He was the father of 7 boys, and he had 22 grandchildren. He was Hotel Commissioner for 37 years (1934-71). He served under 15 governors. He also ran for governor and senator.
