Bok Tower later became a National Historic Landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
The marble and coquina stone tower contains 60 bronze bells weighing from 17 pounds to more than 11 tons.
An inscription at the bottom of the sundial reads, "This Singing Tower with its adjacent sanctuary was dedicated and presented for visitation to the American People by Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States, February the First, Nineteen hundred and twenty nine."
