General Note/Comment

  • One compact disc. This was Dean's third festival (the other two were 1999 and 2000). Dean was born in Quincy, Florida in April 1962. After a basketball scholarship to East Central Junior College (Decatur, Mississippi), Dean began toruing clubs on the Gulf Coast. He entered the music business through a series of contests, most significantly in 1988 with a winning appearance on the TV show, Star Search. Releasing several hit country music albums in the early 1990s, Dean also performed in several TV comedies and soap operas. By 1999, Dean was no longer charting in the Top Ten, but was still a popular concert performer. He released his last album (Real Men)in 1998. (He relased a "comeback" album in 2005.) Fiddler Clements played with Dean.
