General Note/Comment

  • One reel to reel recording. NOTE: Due to technical problems with the original reels the recording quality of the 1971 Florida Folk Festival is exceptionally poor. Boltin served as emcee. (The last five tracks of the reel -- not listed here -- are from the Friday afternoon program. See separate entry for description.) The first few tracks may have been from the previous day's program (Thursday, 6 May, 1971). The reel indexes are unclear. The Schillings were from Cosby, Tennessee. Jean played dulcimer. The Orange Blossom Bluegrass were from Tampa. Nelson lived in Gainesville. Pavitt lived in Juneau, Alaska. The Good Guys were based out of West Palm Beach. Fiddler Stephens lived in Panama City. Starker played the steel drums.
