General Note/Comment

  • One reel to reel recording. Boltin served as emcee. At the time Evelyn lived in Petersburg, New York. Popular on the folk circuit in the 1960s, she performed with late husband Bob (and later daughter Martha)as the popular folk act, the Beers Family. They were sent in 1968 by the U.S. Dept. of State on a tour on India, and once played for the White House in 1969. In 1966, they also began the popular Fox Hollow Festival in upstate New York. In 1972, Bob Beers died in a car crash. His daughter still performs as Martha Nagler, and Evelyn continued performing at Florida Folk Festivals well into the 1970s. Roth played the dulcimer. Storyteller Frog Smith was from Fort Myers.
