Biographical Note
Virginia Stitt was born on July 25, 1913. She was married to Dr. Merritt Ryals Clements (born 1911 in Greenville, FL, died 1988). He graduated from Emory Medical School (Atlanta, Ga.) in 1935 and later served in the Navy during World War II. Dr. Clements was Department Chairman and Chief of Staff at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital from 1958 to 1959. He was later recognized as a "Great Floridian", his plaque is located at 1545 Lee Avenue in Tallahassee, Florida. Virginia Stitt Clements died on February 28, 1998.
