Each Governor of the United States and Territories had a tree and 400 square feet of land presented to him at the Governors' Conference in Miami Beach, Florida, in 1958 by the Minute Maid Corporation. The fruit from each tree will be picked and sent to the Governor of each State every year. The grove is maintained by the Minute Maid Corporation.
