  • Photonegative of half a stereoview, no.649.
  • The Dictator was built in Brooklyn, New York, in 1863 by Thomas Stark. It was first registered in New York City with the number of 6622. It is a side-wheeled paddle steamer that had a gross tonnage of 735. It was 205.8' long, 30' wide, with a depth of 8.6'.

    Biography Note

  • The Hattie was rebuilt in 1867, and wrecked in July of 1880. It was owned by the Brock Line.

  • Biography Note

  • The Dictator was bought by Captain Louis Mitchell Coxetter after the Civil War. It traveled the Charleston, South Carolina, to Palatka, Florida run. It burned on the Hillsborough River in December of 1884. It later became the Conquest, and its tonnage was reduced to 623 gross, and 511 net.
