General Note
Accompanying note: "Original home of James and Mary Sandlin. James was a member of the first City Council and later mayor of the City. Son, Felix, was the first child born in Punta Gorda. James was involved in real estate, mercantile, citrus and coastal shipping. From the widow's walk, he could check on ships at the local dock. Legend has it that a daughter, Leah, burned to death on the front porch when a gasoline-fueled clothes iron malfunctioned and that she now haunts the house."
