General Note
Born on November 21, 1934, in Miami. Joined the U.S. Marines after high school graduation and served from 1952-1955. Married Mary Yvonne Bishop on September 22, 1956. Hired as a police officer by Opa-locka in 1956 and after a year joined the Metro-Dade Police Department. On January 31, 1962 he was fatally injured when he lost control of his motorcycle while responding to a radio distress call from a shot officer. Officer Johnson died on February 3, 1962 after three days on an artificial respirator. His name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (West Wall, Panel 56, Line 16).
