General Note
The state park was named for John Bartram, botanist and naturalist to King George III of England. It was located in Volusia County, 15 miles south of New Smyrna Beach. The John Bartram State Park was sold to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for its Cape "buffer zone" in 1967.
Accompanying note: "The old boathouse and dock of the old Refuge Station [Mosquito Lagoon House of Refuge] still stands on the Indian River Lagoon North in John Bartram State Park [current day (2010) Canaveral National Seashore] south of New Smyrna Beach, Florida."
