Biographical Note
The building, constructed between 1872 and 1876, was located at the corner of Copeland St. and Park Ave. and served as a school for African-Americans. Florida State College for Women obtained the building in 1906; it served as a music annex, gymnasium, and, after being moved to a different location, a social welfare building.
