GOVERNORS' RECORDS

These series originate from the Governor's Office and include correspondence and subject files on women's issues. The collections were created by the governors, their wives or staff members. For records concerning abortion and women's health issues from the Askew and Martinez administrations, see Part 6, Women's Health Issues. For the papers of First Lady Gertrude Norrell Bloxham see series M77-157 in Part 2, Private Life.

S 926 Governor (1967-1971: Kirk).
Legal Files, 1967-1971. 9.00 cubic feet

This series documents the activities of the Kirk administration concerning legal issues. Of special interest are files regarding pornography. The series includes reports and correspondence of the Commission on Obscenity and Pornography.

S 1323 Governor (1987-1991: Martinez).
First Lady Mary Jane Martinez Administrative Files, 1987-1990. 4.00 cubic feet

Mary Jane Martinez had an extended career as a librarian and media specialist, and during her husband's administration she worked to fight drug abuse, promote libraries and strengthen families. This series consists of subject files, correspondence, and speeches related to her work for these and other causes.

S 1341 Governor (1979-1987: Graham).
First Lady Adele Graham Correspondence, 1979-1986. 2.00 cubic feet

This series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence of Adele Graham on subjects of special interest to her in her role as Florida's First Lady. Much of the correspondence concerns her work on aging issues and with the elderly.

S 1458 Governor (1979-1987: Graham).
Office of Minority Affairs Administrative Files, 1979-1986. 6.00 cubic feet

The Office of Minority Affairs is charged with ensuring minority (including women) access to and participation in state government. These files consist of correspondence, memoranda, subject files, and reports pertaining to affirmative action and equal employment opportunities.
