Black History Month
At the State Archives of Florida Black History Month began in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson to prompt
awareness and research into the nation's African American Heritage. For
Florida, that heritage is especially rich as African American history
dates back to the 16th Century. And much of that heritage can be found
at the State Archives of Florida. Below are a few of our resources related
to African American history.
