Black History Month
At the State Archives of Florida

Black History Month began in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson to prompt awareness and research into the nation's African American Heritage. For Florida, that heritage is especially rich as African American history dates back to the 16th Century. And much of that heritage can be found at the State Archives of Florida. Below are a few of our resources related to African American history.
