Grade Levels/Sunshine State Standards:

Description:
Individual/group activity.

Discuss with the students the process of preparing a timeline based on events that happened in history and placing them in chronological order on the timeline.

Create a class timeline using a clothesline (rope), clothes pins, construction paper and student information gathered from Florida Archive film clips.

Assign the students one film clip per person/group. Students will analyze the film clip and make notes about it. Students should note the: date, time period, and location of the film clip. If specific information is not contained in the film clip, students will need to research this information using other resources.

Each individual/group will create a piece of the classroom timeline. Draw and color a picture that relates to their film clip. It must include the date, time period, and location of the film clip. Add a caption (two sentences minimum) relating to the picture that describes what your film clip is about. Using clothespins, attach the pictures to the rope in chronological order. The timeline should be marked in decades so students can place their work in the proper location.
