Overview
In this lesson, students will compare the raw material
of an interview with Mary McLeod Bethune to an author's first draft of
a biography.
Objectives

Students will hear a summary of the life
of Mary Bethune. |
| 2. |
Students will read or listen to an excerpt
from an interview with Mary Bethune where she describes wanting
to learn to read. |
| 3. |
Students will compare the transcript (primary
source) with a draft of the biography that Daniel Williams intended
to publish (secondary source). |
| 4. |
Students will discuss the differences between
the transcript and the draft of the biography. |
