Soldiers are very likely the "Orleans Cadets," Company A, the first
volunteer company mustered into service from Louisiana. They enlisted
on April 11, 1861. This photo is one of six found in 1972 in a scrapbook
of original sketches belonging to artist C.F. Allgower, illustrator for
Harper's Weekly. Photographed in April, 1961. |
