NOTE: The third reel, T77-232, does not play.
For information regarding performers, titles of songs, and other details, see individual reel descriptions. The Stephen Foster Center recorded the main stage performances. However out of the four-day festival, only the recordings of Thursday’s programs, along with a brief portion of Friday’s program, exist. It appears there were technical problems in the equipment. This year was often referred to as “Whitestock” as an estimated 60,000 to 100,000 people converged on festival, many hoping for a local version of the infamous Woodstock festival. The sudden influx of new attendees overwhelmed the festivals infrastructure, which may have also contributed to the lack of recordings of the festival. Check the festival programs located in S 1619 for other activities at the festival, and performers/programs not recorded. The festival began on Thursday (4 May) morning at 10am and ran through Sunday (7 May) afternoon. Performers usually played sets between one and three songs each. Performances were presented in morning, afternoon, and evening programs. This was the 20th Florida Folk Festival. |

the digitization project is still in progress, and therefore some recordings
