Note: use commas as alternative to the OR operator

PROXIMITY SEARCH OPERATORS: <PARAGRAPH>, <SENTENCE>, <NEAR>, <NEAR/N>

    Sample: Executive <NEAR/3> power

searches for documents with the word Executive within three (3) words of power

Note: These operators require that you place angle brackets ( < > ) around the operator

EXACT WORD OR PHRASE: use quotation marks

    Sample: "Speaker of the House"

searches for the exact phrase Speaker of the House

    Sample: "govern"

searches for the word govern, and will not return stresses or other stemmed variations

Note: Verity interprets as string of words as a request for a search for a phrase

    Sample: govern

searches for the phrase, but will also search for stemmed variations (e.g., governs and governing)

WILDCARDS: *, ?

    Sample: Fl*
Searches for any word starting with the letters Fl such as Florida or Flag

    Sample: Th??K

search finds pages that contain, for example, either Think or Thank.
